Asha Gigi

Asha Gigi (born October 15, 1973 in the Arsi region ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specializes in marathons .

Life

At the World Cross Country Championships in Budapest in 1994 , she finished 19th and won silver with the Ethiopian team. In 1998 she came in 19th place at the World Half Marathon World Championships in Uster . In 2002 she came in 17th at the World Half Marathon World Championships in Brussels and was fourth in the 10,000 meter run of the African Athletics Championships in Radès .

In 2003 she finished fifth in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and 19th in the World Championships marathon in Paris . The following year, she was tenth in the Osaka Women's Marathon , won the Ribarroja del Turia half marathon and came second in the Paris Marathon .

In 2005 she was third in the Lisbon Half Marathon and in Paris and ran at the World Championships in Helsinki in 16th place. In 2006 she was seventh in Paris and fourth in the Berlin Marathon . After finishing fourth in Paris in 2007, she achieved her first victory at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon : with 2:33:16 h, she set a course record.

In 2008 she was sixth in the Dubai Marathon , won the Prague Half Marathon and was third in the Hamburg Marathon and in Toronto. An eleventh place followed in Dubai in 2009.

In 2011, after a sixth place in the Xiamen marathon and a second place in the half marathon of the Paderborn Easter run, she won the Gutenberg marathon and the Florence marathon . In 2012 she finished fourth in the Daegu Marathon .
