Ashley Rowe

Ashley Rowe (born February 28, 1959 in Dorset , England ) is a British cameraman . He is a member of the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC).

Life

Ashley Rowe started making films with an 8mm camera while he was still in school . After leaving school, he joined a small film company producing short films for the University of Southampton and the Central Office of Information , an information and public relations agency of the British government. In 1988 he was hired as a cameraman by the BBC Film Unit . Between 1988 and 1993 he shot nine films for the BBC, three of which won a BAFTA award. The penultimate film for the BBC was Ralph Fiennes ' debut as a film actor in the 1993 low-budget film The Bird of Death , which won the BAFTA Welsh Award for Best Camera in a Film.

In 1994 Chris Menges hired him as assistant camera for his film Second Best and also in 1994 he made his first feature film, The Widows of Widows Peak, directed by John Irvin . Since then he has shot over 35 feature films and around 30 films for television.
