Audun Kleive (born October 20, 1961 ) is a Norwegian jazz drummer.

The son of the organist Kristoffer Kleive and brother of the organist Iver Kleive grew up in Skien . He studied at Musikkhøyskolen in Oslo . From 1981 to 1983 he was a member of the rock-jazz band Lotus , and from 1981 to 1984 of the Oslo 13 band . In 1983 his first album Anti-Therapy was released .

From 1983 he played in various jazz formations, including the Anne-Marie Giørtz Quintet , the Quartet of Frode Alnæs and Nils Petter Molvær , the Brødrene Balke Etno Funk , the Knut Riisnæs Quartet and Terje Rypdals Trio The Chasers . He also had his own band with Sidsel Endresen . In the later 1980s he worked with the Swedish group Entra Live , again with the group Oslo 13 and with Trio 87 . In 1989 he was named Jazz Musician of the Year by the Norwegian Jazz Musicians Association.

In the 1990s, the focus was on working with Jon Balke and Per Jørgensen , with whom he formed the Trio Jøkleba ; from 1993 he was also a member of Jon Balke's Magnetic North Ensemble . He also worked in a quartet with Nils Petter Molvær , Jens Bugge Wesseltoft and Bjørn Kjellemyr and recorded the album Music for Men and Machines with Jon Eberson . He has also performed with musicians such as Per Husby , Jan Gunnar Hoff , Marilyn Mazur , Gunnar Andreas Berg , Bugge Wesseltoft, Jouni Järvelä and Bendik Hofseth as well as with David Murray and Pierre Dørge ( The Jazzpar Prize , 1991).

In 1996 Kleive recorded the album Going with the Flow with Olga Konkova and Carl Morten Iversen , and since 2000 he has been working in a trio with Samuli Mikkonen and Anders Jormin .
