At the beginning of the 15th century Aurigeno took an active part in the battles that tore the Maggia Valley; on November 20, 1404, a peace treaty was signed between Aurigeno and the communities of the valley, as well as Cevio and Bosco / Gurin . Under Swiss rule (since 1503) Aurigeno designated the bailiff's chancellor when the canton of Nidwalden provided the bailiff; It sent three deputies to the council of the lower valley and in turn appointed one of the seven judges, conjudices, who were elected by the communities and charged with assisting the bailiff in the administration of the law.
