Auto environmental list

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The VCD Auto-Umweltliste has been published annually by the Verkehrsclub Deutschland eV (VCD) since 1989 and evaluates series vehicles ( cars ) on the market with regard to their environmental compatibility .

Special consideration of electric vehicles

Electric cars are currently not included in the “Auto Environment List” (2013/2014) “because of the thin and contradicting data situation”. They are evaluated separately by the VCD, taking into account the energy supply on the basis of the NEDC , although this gives vehicles with combustion engines and especially hybrid cars advantages, as their fuel generation upstream chain is not taken into account. According to this illustration, a fully electric BMW i3 is less environmentally friendly than a BMW i3 with a combustion engine as a range extender . At 87 g CO 2 / km, the Smart ED3 has higher emissions than the Mercedes-Benz S 500 plug-in hybrid with the specified 78 g CO 2 / km.

After the emissions scandal

Since the emissions scandal in September 2015, the car environmental lists have only been published as positive lists . Electric cars are now also represented.
