The Staffel station (also known as Limburg Staffel ) is a listed separation station with a listed station building in the Limburg district of Staffel . This is where the Unter - branches off from the Oberwesterwaldbahn .
building
The station building was built in 1870 as part of the Limburg – Westerburg section of the Oberwesterwaldbahn. The architect of the two-story plastered building is probably Heinrich Velde . The classicistic building stands east of the tracks and was originally five-axis, but was subsequently extended to the south. On the side of the roof facing the village there is a dwelling .
To the north is a low, plastered timber-framed goods shed. The signal box of the Unterwesterwaldbahn, built in 1890, is also within sight. The small building has a brick basement , the upper floor is cantilevered and has large windows.
The signal box built in 1925, also for the Unterwesterwaldbahn, is located about 250 meters north of the station. It is a small building with a bricked ground floor, plastered floor and hipped roof .
history
The section of the Oberwesterwaldbahn between Staffel and Hadamar was opened on January 1, 1870, the Unterwesterwaldbahn started operating on May 30, 1884. The line between Limburg and Staffel went into operation on December 10, 1888, after the section from Hadamar to Westerburg had already been opened in October 1886 .
