The Neumarkt-Sankt Veit-Landshut line is a single-track, non-electrified main line in Bavaria . It is operated by the Südostbayernbahn (a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG ).

history

Egglkofen station

The construction of the line from Landshut to Neumarkt a. Rott (now Neumarkt-St. Veit) was approved on February 1, 1880. The 38.88 km long route opened on October 4, 1883. Initially, the maximum speed of the route was only 30 km / h. On June 1, 1889, the maximum speed was increased to 50 km / h, since the line was now operated as the main line.

In 2009, 36 passenger and eight freight trains ran on the route on weekdays, 26 passenger trains on Saturdays and Sundays and four freight trains on Saturdays. Every day between Landshut and Mühldorf there is a 60-minute cycle with regional trains , which alternate between Rosenheim and Freilassing (- Salzburg). In Vilsbiburg, the train crossing takes place during the usual minute of symmetry . The operation is carried out by vehicles of the 628 series . Since June 10, 2007, a pair of trains with a class 218 diesel locomotive and four double-decker cars have been used to transport schoolchildren to and from Landshut . Since December 11, 2016, the pair of trains has been temporarily driven with four n-wagons as an alternative .

Freight traffic is limited to the Saturday lime train from Saal and the Wacker shuttle from Maschen Rbf to Burghausen Wackerwerk. There are also tank wagon trains in service every day and trains on demand, almost all of the services provided by the 247.0 series , rarely from the 232 series .

On June 22, 2007, the expansion of the line began to a maximum speed of 120 km / h. This made it possible to offer an almost continuous hourly service from Mühldorf to Landshut from December 2008. In addition, the platforms in Vilsbiburg , Geisenhausen , Neumarkt-St. Veit and Landshut Süd increased to 55 cm. On September 27, 2008, the mechanical interlockings in Egglkofen , Vilsbiburg and Geisenhausen were shut down and control of the route was taken over from September 28th by the electronic interlocking (ESTW) in the Mühldorf (Oberbay) station . The previous form signals on the route were replaced by light signals based on the Ks signal system. With further measures to speed up, the hourly service could be offered from December 2009 onwards.

On November 5, 2018, the route as part of the Regensburg- Mühldorf ABS received a positive cost-benefit ratio of 1.05 and thus, according to the BSWAG , is one of the urgent needs of the federal transport route plan . The expansion measure envisages electrification between Landshut and Mühldorf at a top speed of 120 km / h. The construction of a double-track section between Landshut (Bay) Süd and Geisenhausen and the partial increase to 160 km / h was also examined, but will not be pursued for the time being.
