Attractions
The regular layout of the 13th century is dominated by the elongated market square, which is cordoned off on both sides by gates. Several residential buildings can be assigned to the Inn-Salzach style . The old parish church of St. John the Baptist from the second half of the 15th century is located here. A little off the market square is the St. Vitus Monastery , a former Benedictine monastery and today's retirement home. The former monastery church is now the parish church. The old town around the town square offers sights such as the Ducal Box, which is used today as a city library and event venue. The old nursing court at Schloss Adlstein now houses the town hall. In the large community area of over 60 square kilometers there are many villages and gems such as Teising with a moated castle and an old pilgrimage church and chapel. The branch church of St. Maria in Elsenbach should also be mentioned, a plastered brick building from the end of the 15th century of the Landshut School with a high, vaulted interior and monumental late Gothic wall paintings.
In a concentration camp cemetery outside the village on the B 299 in the direction of Mühldorf , 392 prisoners are buried who perished during forced labor in an aircraft factory in sub-camps in the Mühldorf district , as reminded by plaques at the cemetery gate.
