Balz Bachmann (born January 17, 1971 in Zurich ) is a Swiss film music composer and musician .
Life
The musician and composer Balz Bachmann from Zurich studied double bass at the HKB formerly SJS in Bern. Since 1997 he has dedicated himself to composition for feature films and documentaries, theater, art and television.
Balz Bachmann's versatility is expressed in a wide variety of styles and includes acoustic, electronic and orchestral works, always based on the individual characters and the story of the respective film project. His film music was created in collaboration with directors such as u. a. Jasmila Zbanic, Dani Levy, Xavier Koller or Sabine Gisiger.
Balz Bachmann has received awards for numerous works, including the Swiss Film Prize, the Suisa Filmmusik Prize of the Locarno Film Festival and the nomination of the German Documentary Film Music Prize. In addition to his work as a composer and music producer, he teaches as a guest lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts. As a musician, he plays with artists of various origins or accompanied z. B. the singer Sophie Hunger as a musician on her tours. He is a member of the Swiss as well as of the European Film Academy.
