Summary
It was more or less by chance that one day Kasumi Toyama found an electric guitar - an ESP "Random Star" - in the Ishigaya family pawn shop on the way home and met her classmate Arisa, who was initially not well disposed towards her. Kasumi, who has been looking for the true sound that should make her heart beat faster since childhood, visits her classmate every day and begins to help her tidy up the department store. At a concert by the Glitter ☆ Green group that the two of them visit by chance, Kasumi's desire to start his own group is awakened.
The first thirteen episodes show the founding history of the group Poppin'Party , which consists of Kasumi Toyama and her classmates Rimi Ushigome, Tae Hanazono, Sāya Yamabuki and Arisa Ishigaya, as well as the first official concerts of the musicians. On the way to their own band they encounter different hurdles: Rimi has tried unsuccessfully to overcome her shyness and fears , Kasumi's guitar lessons and her absence during rehearsals make Arisa jealous and Sāya was previously the drummer of the band CHiSPA, which she had to leave before her first concert in order to be able to support her ailing mother in the family-run bakery .
Together they are working towards an appearance in the Live House SPACE , which is about to close, but must successfully complete an audition there in front of the strict owner in order to be allowed to perform there. The group has already made two unsuccessful attempts. When the owner Kasumi makes it clear that she performed the worst, it hits her so hard that she briefly loses her voice due to the stress . The other members can cheer Kasumi up and manage to successfully master the audition on the third attempt, so that their group can perform at the very last concert before the concert hall closes.
In the original video animation published on November 22, 2017 , which was included in the seventh Blu-ray / DVD volume of the first season, the musicians from Poppin'Party and Roselia spend a day together on the beach.

season 2
Summary
The action of the second season begins nine months after the last concert in the live house "SPACE". Kasumi and her friends are now in their second year of high school . One evening they are asked by their classmate Rokka Asahi, who is in their first year, to act as a substitute for a group that was unable to attend to the Galaxy, where Asahi works as a temporary worker. At this concert, Roselia announce that they will play their own, self-organized concert. This announcement prompts Kasumi to also want to organize such an event and announces this after their concert.
Poppin'Party are invited by Roselia to play as a “ special guest ” at their self-organized concert. After the concert, Yukina, the singer from Roselia, Kasumi and their band makes it clear that they are still far from being able to organize such an event. Chiyu Tamade, who was in the audience, is enthusiastic about Roselia's music, so she asks Yukina to include her as a producer in the band, but she is rejected by the band. Completely angry, Tamade decides to start his own group to endanger Roselia's career. So she recruited Masuki Satō, Rei Wakana and Reona Nyūbara a drummer , a singer and bassist and a keyboard player . One evening, Tae and Rei meet again, who have known each other since their early childhood. Through this contact Tae becomes a substitute guitarist in the band RAISE A SUILEN founded by Chiyu Tamade . For Tae, this double burden means that Poppin'Party cannot play a concert at the joint school festival of the Hanasakigawa and Haneoka high schools and had to be replaced by other groups.
Tae decides to leave RAISE A SUILEN after one last gig together in order to be able to concentrate fully on their work at Poppin'Party. The musicians from Poppin'Party are invited to watch the concert. After the performance, Chiyu Tamade approaches Kasumi and her friends with the request to let Tae go so that she can become a permanent member of RAISE A SUILEN.

season 3
Summary
The action of the third season begins three months after the self-organized concert of Poppin'Party. The owners of the local live houses , including Marina Tsukishima - who runs the CIRCLE - decide on a music competition , the BanG Dream! Girls Band Challenge , the finale of which is to take place in the famous Budōkan . While Poppin'Party and Afterglow express their interest in participating, Chiyu has problems finding a suitable guitarist for RAISE A SUILEN.
By chance, Chiyu finds one of Rokka while analyzing Roselia's performances, which she shows playing guitar at the school festival. She invites Poppin'Party , Roselia and Rokka to one of her concerts, where she announces the participation of RAISE A SUILEN in the music competition and offers Rokka to play for her band what they dislike. Due to the tenacity of her bandmates, Rokka finally auditioned for the guitarist position, but showed little commitment, so that she did not pass the audition. With a new song, which Poppin'Party play in the elimination round, Rokka - who has meanwhile come to terms with the poor result in audition - takes up courage, so that she runs into Chiyu's recording studio to ask her for another chance. She passes the audition and is initially accepted into the group as a session musician.
In the course of the further competition, personal differences spread between the musicians of RAISE A SUILEN, culminating in the fact that pareo and masking leave the group in the meantime, whereupon the band threatens to break up. Rokka, who meanwhile received her nickname "Lock" as a permanent member, tries to bring the musicians back together and to reconcile.
