Roselia is a fictional rock band from the BanG-Dream! -Unversium. The members of the music group, which was founded in 2016, embody the characters from the anime series and the mobile game . They also play the instruments of their respective characters from the franchise during live performances.

Roselia consists of Aina Aiba , who embodies the singer Yukina Minato, Haruka Kudō as guitarist Sayo Hikawa, Megu Sakuragawa , which drummer Ako Udagawa lends her voice, Kanon Shizaki as keyboardist Rinko Shirogane and Yuki Nakashima , which bassist Lisa Imai speaks. Former members are Yurika Endō and Satomi Akesaka , who played Lisa Imai and Rinko Shirogane respectively until 2018.

After Poppin'Party , Roselia is the second of four groups to play their music live at concerts. Overall, BanG Dream! seven groups within the franchise universe.

history

Roselia first appeared in September 2016 as part of the Tokyo Game Show to promote the release of the rhythm mobile game BanG Dream! Girls band party! to operate. The group that appeared as a special guest on the show initially consisted of the five voice actors Aina Aiba (Yukina) , Haruka Kudō (Sayo) , Yurika Endō (Lisa) , Megu Sakuragawa (Ako) and Satomi Akesaka (Rinko) . At the time, Roselia was, alongside Poppin'Party, one of two groups in the franchise whose members are voice actors who can play their characters' instruments at concerts themselves.

The band gave their first live concert as part of the sold-out BanGDream! 3rd ☆ LIVE Sparklin 'PARTY 2017! at Tokyo Dome City Hall in February 2017 where the band, who acted as a secret guest, played three songs - including two anime openings from Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth and Steins; Gate and an original track called Black Shout . According to Yurika Endo, the musicians worked for almost half a year on this performance. On April 19, 2017, Roselia's debut single, Black Shout , was released, which features the track Louder as a bonus song . This rose to number 7 in the Oricon single charts and remained in the charts for a total of 31 weeks. Eleven days after releasing their first single, the group played at the anniversary concert for the tenth anniversary of the Bushiroad company in the Yokohama Arena, where the group played their second song, Re: birth Day, live. This was released on June 28th as the second single and also entered the Japanese single charts.

Roselia played her first concert on June 30, 2017 at the Shibuya Duo Music Exchange. Due to the extremely positive response, another event was held under this name one month later, this time in the larger Ariake Coliseum . In August of the same year, the group first appeared at the Anison festival Animelo Summer Live . In the same month the third single Nesshoku Starmine was released , its bonus song Heroic Advent as the theme music for the anime series Cardfight !! Vanguard G: Z was used. Their second live concert time went on 8 October 2017 the Makuhari Messe on the stage. On October 18, an internet radio show called Radio Shout! hosted by Haruka Kudō and Megu Sakuragawa. With Oneness , a fourth single was released at the end of November.

In September 2017, Aiba and Kudō were guests at the CharaExpo organized by Bushiroad in Singapore , where they took part in a roundtable discussion. In 2018 and 2019, the band played at CharaExpo USA in Anaheim , California , which were the band's first concerts outside of Japan . Aina Aiba was a guest at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles in 2018 and at the Madman Anime Festival in Melbourne , Australia in 2019 .

The anime television series for the franchise started in 2017 in which Roselia made her first short character appearance. When the animation studio Sanzigen was introduced for the production of the second anime season, the studio produced an animated music video for the band's song Neo-Aspect . The band also contributed both the opening and closing songs with Brave Jewel and Safe and Sound . With BanG Dream! Episode of Roselia , subtitled with Yakusoku and Song I Am , a two-part movie has been announced for 2021 that deals with the band. In May 2018 appeared with the beginning of the debut album Roselias that the number two at first Japanese album charts was able to position and overall 42 weeks was listed in length. The album sold around 25,000 times on a physical level within the first week of sales. As of December 31, 2018, the album had sold 45,200 units. In the same year three more single releases were released. In addition, Roselia controlled the opening credits for the anime Cardfight with Legendary !! Vanguard at. In mid-2018, Endō and Akesaka left the music project and were replaced by Yuki Nakashima and Kanon Shizaki . While Endo left the entertainment industry, Akesaka had to give up her work as a musician due to hearing loss.

In February 2019, the group released their eighth single, Safe and Sound , which together with five other singles from the franchise was able to position itself in the top ten of the Japanese single charts, with Safe and Sound at number three being the highest chart position of the six BanG- Dream! Single reached. The ninth single Fire Bird was released in July . The Japanese music download portal mora published a list of the most downloaded pieces of the past year at the end of 2019. Roselia reached the top ten of this list with three songs.

In August 2019 the group played for the second time on the Animelo Summer Live, where they sang a cover version of their song This Game together with Konomi Suzuki . Other concerts of the year were Flamme / Wasser , the group's first two-day open-air concert, which was held in the Fuji-Q Highland Forest , and the joint concert Rausch / Craziness with RAISE A SUILEN - also a live band from the BanG -Dream! -Franchise - in the Makuhari Messe at the end of November. Rausch / Craziness experienced a second concert in February 2020, this time in the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza . Because of the coronavirus - pandemic in Japan many large music and entertainment events were canceled indefinitely, including events for the BanG-Dream franchise!.

In January 2020, the group's tenth single, Yakusoku, was released. On March 7, 2020, Roselia won a prize at the Seiyū Awards , the fourteenth time, the Singing Award . The release of the second album Wahl has been announced for July 15, 2020 .

• Aina Aiba (Yukina Minato, vocals , since 2016): As Aiba the BanG-Dream! -Franchise, she had the least musical experience. At first, Aiba was careful to take on the role of the stoic Yukina, as she herself has a very active personality. However, in the meantime she has been able to adapt to the role. In an interview with the Japanese Famitsu , Aiba said that she “tries to express her secret feelings with a small voice and Mimi” because Yukina withholds her emotions when her band performs.
• Haruka Kudō (Sayo Hikawa, electric guitar , since 2016): Kudō learned to play guitar in high school , although she wanted to make her stage debut as a singer. Her live performances as part of Roselia also offered her opportunities to work as a background singer. At concerts she plays on an ESP M-II .
• Yuki Nakashima (Lisa Imai, electric bass , since 2018): Nakashima was officially described as the "sixth member of Roselia" and made her concert debut on the BanG Dream! 5th ☆ Live . Her first assignment as voice actress for Lisa Imai took place as part of the music video production for Neo-Aspect .
• Megu Sakuragawa (Ako Udagawa, drums , since 2016): Sakuragawa learned to play drums in middle school, but had no contact with harder rock music before joining Roselia.
• Kanon Shizaki (Rinko Shirogane, keyboard , since 2018): On November 7, 2018, Kanon Shizaki was introduced to Roselia as the new keyboard player, who also embodies her role as Rinko Shirogane in the anime series and in the mobile phone game. Before joining the BanG Dream! Franchise, she had played the piano for twelve years .

• Satomi Akesaka (Rinko Shirogane, keyboard, 2016–2018): Akesaka learned to play the piano since she was a child, but stopped playing as a teenager. In August 2018 it was announced that she would be leaving the band due to health problems after she was diagnosed with hearing loss . During her band activity, she had suffered intermittent hearing loss twice. Her last appearance was a fan meeting in September 2018.
• Yurika Endō (Lisa Imai, electric bass, 2016-2018): Endō played electric bass even before joining Roselia. In December 2017, she announced her retirement from the entertainment industry for health reasons. Her last concert with Roselia was on the BanG Dream! 5th ☆ Live .

Adhering to the premise of the franchise that voice actors perform their own music live, the members of the band portray characters from the anime television series and the mobile game BanG Dream! Girls band party! . In an interview with the Japanese subsidiary of the US-American Billboard music magazine, Haruka Kudō and Megu Sakuragawa stated that Roselia was a voice actor band that could help to increase the audience's interest in the game and the anime series . Roselia is one of now between four bands alongside Poppin'Party , RAISE A SUILEN and Morfonica who perform their own pieces live.

In the anime and video game , Roselia is a popular band led by singer Yukina Minato. Through her musical skills, the music industry has drawn interest in her and the band. Roselia is a gothic rock band borrowed from symphonic metal , whose appearances are based on visual kei with appropriate costumes and have impressive visuals. The band name is a combination of words from rose and camellia .

A manga by Pepako Dokuta, who deals with the band, was released under the name BanG Dream! Girls band party! Roselia Stage from February 2017 to September of the same year in the online manga magazine Gardo Comics published by Overlap . This was licensed by Tokyopop for an English language publication in North America .
