The Musashino Forest Sport Plaza ( English for Japanese 武 蔵 野 の 森 総 合 ス ポ ー ツ プ ラ ザ , Musashino no mori sōgō supōtsu puraza ) is a sports complex in the Japanese city of Chōfu , a western suburb of Tokyo in Tokyo Prefecture .
In the 2020 Olympic Games , the competitions will be in here Badminton and Fencing of Modern Pentathlon held. At the Summer Paralympics 2020 , the wheelchair basketball competitions will be held here.
The large multi-purpose hall of the complex is right next to the Ajinomoto Stadium and has a capacity of around 10,000 visitors. In addition to it, the sports complex also includes a swimming pool , a small sports hall and two fitness studios . The facility was opened on November 25, 2017 as the first competition venues built for the 2020 Olympic Games. The construction phase lasted three and a half years and cost a total of over 300 million US dollars .
Due to renovation work in the Ariake Coliseum for the Olympic Games, the Japan Open Tennis Championships were held here in 2018 .
