The Oi Hockey Stadium ( English for Japanese 大 井 ホ ッ ケ ー 競技場 Ōi hokkē kyōgijō , German 'hockey stadium Ōi' ) is a hockey stadium in the Japanese capital Tokyo .

The stadium is being built for the 2020 Summer Olympics . The games of the two hockey tournaments are to be played here. After the games, it will be used as a multi-purpose stadium .

The stadium is located in the Ōi futō chūō kaihin kōen ( 大 井 ふ 頭 中央 海 浜 公園 'Ōi-Kai-Zentral-Ufer-Park' , English Ōi Futō Chūō Kaihin Park , Oi Wharf Central Seaside Park ) on the border between Yashio in the district Shinagawa and Tōkai in Ōta district . Construction began in January 2018 and is expected to be completed in June 2019. The main square of the stadium is in Shinagawa, and the second square, which will accommodate 5,000 spectators during the Olympic Games, is in Ōta.

Ōi was a town from Ebara County , which was incorporated into Tokyo City in 1932 ; the park and the stadium are located on coastal / virgin land in front of the former city.
