Barbara Weber

Barbara Weber (* 1975 in Wattwil , Switzerland ) is a Swiss director , curator and general manager . She lives with her family in Zurich .

Life

Barbara Weber studied directing at the Institute for Theater, Music Theater and Film in Hamburg. Her unplugged format, with which she questioned blockbusters and modern myths like Michael Jackson , Mother Teresa or the RAF , ran with great success in German-speaking countries. “Hollywood unplugged” and “RAF unplugged” were invited to Theater Impulse . "RAF unplugged" won the prize of the Fonds für Darstellende Künste Berlin. She worked at the HAU in Berlin , the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee , the Schauspiel Essen , the Maxim-Gorki-Theater Berlin, the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Wiener Festwochen . From 2008 to 2013 she was co-director of Theater Neumarkt in Zurich. Since 2013 she has worked as a freelance curator / director / producer a. a. at the National Theater Athens, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Theaterspektakel, Manifesta, Kunsthalle Zürich, Residenztheater Munich and at the Schauspielhaus Wien. She is currently the overall curatorial director of the long-term festival ZH-REFORMATION.CH, on the artistic advisory board of the IMPULSE Theater Festival as well as scout and project director of KUNST: SZENE Zurich 2018. She is also president of the Pro Kultur Kanton Zurich association.

Barbara Weber is the sister of the author Peter Weber .
