Iselin , called Yyseli in Basel German , is a district of the Swiss city of Basel . It is located on the western outskirts in Grossbasel and borders in the north on the St. Johann-Quartier (Burgfelderstrasse), in the west on the municipality of Allschwil and the city of Saint-Louis (district Bourgfelden) in France, in the south on the Gotthelf-Quartier ( Allschwilerstrasse, Ahornstrasse); to the east is the Am Ring district (Spalenring).
The Iselin quarter takes its name from the Isaak Iselin school house, which in turn was named after the Basel philosopher Isaak Iselin .
Residential districts
Iselin is divided into three residential districts:
- Oekolampad ( Oekolampad Church, Colmarerstrasse)
- Wasgenring-Ost (Helvetiaplatz, Felix Platter Hospital)
- Wasgenring-West ( Bachgraben , Israelitischer Friedhof)
