Bellersdorf is a district of the municipality Mittenaar in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse .

Geographical location

The place is south of the main town Bicken near Altenkirchen and Bermoll . Bellersdorf is the only place that is not on the edge, but in the middle of the Hörre.

history

Bellersdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1294. But the village remained uninhabited for several centuries (approx. 1520–1699) for unknown reasons. It is believed that the plague raged here too or that the war forced the residents to move away.

It was not until 1699 that isolated families resettled in Bellersdorf with the permission of Count Ludwig von Hohensolms . The inhabitants lived from agriculture and handicrafts until the recent past .

Only after the last war , when the lonely situation was no longer an obstacle due to the improvement in traffic conditions, did a great boom set in. Due to significant successes in the competition Our village should be more beautiful , Bellersdorf became known nationwide. The favorable location, the tranquility and the lack of through traffic have made Bellersdorf the district with the highest quality of living. You can hike there very well, as it borders on a nature reserve .

In 1965 a nuclear weapons depot was built in the forest about 1.5 km north of the village , which existed until 1992/93 and was jointly guarded by German and American soldiers from the Aartal barracks .

Territorial reform

The municipality of Bellersdorf was incorporated into the municipality of Mittenaar on April 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis.
