The Berlin Football Championship 1930-31 was the twentieth under the Brandenburg football championship discharged (VBB) Berlin Football Championship . Since the Pomerania district switched from the Baltic Sports Association to the Brandenburg Ball Game Association , some adjustments to the Berlin soccer championship were necessary. In the end, Hertha BSC was able to win the Berlin soccer championship for the tenth time. With this victory, the club qualified for the German football championship 1930/31 , in which the Herthaners reached the final for the sixth time in a row after victories over VfB 03 Bielefeld , SpVgg Fürth and Hamburger SV . Thanks to a 3-2 win in the final against SV 1860 Munich , Hertha BSC was able to successfully defend the title and became German football champions for the second time . The Berliner Tennis Club Borussia was qualified as a Berlin runner-up, as in previous years, also for the German football championship. After a 6-1 victory against VfB Liegnitz , Borussia reached the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated after a 0-1 defeat against 1860 Munich .
With the addition of the Pomerania district, there were some changes in the game mode. As usual, the Berlin-Brandenburg district was initially played in two groups with 10 participants each in a round-robin tournament with a round trip. The two group winners qualified for the final tournament. The Pomeranian District first played the participants in the Pomeranian finals in three leagues. Their winner was then also qualified for the final round of the VBB. The Berlin Cup winner from 1930 qualified as the fourth participant.
