Bess Armstrong
Bess Armstrong (* 11. December 1953 in Baltimore , Maryland , native Elizabeth Key Armstrong ) is an American actress .
Life and accomplishments
Armstrong, whose parents worked as a teacher, graduated from Brown University with a degree in theater arts . She made her actress debut in 1977 on the television series On Our Own . In the television comedy Your Bride Belongs to Me (1978) she played one of the bigger roles; similar in the television thriller The Eleventh Victim (1979) by Jonathan Kaplan . In the comedy Four Seasons (1981) she appeared in a larger role at the side of Alan Alda, who also worked as a director and screenwriter . The film was one of the ten most successful films of 1981 in the USA.
In the adventure film Hell Hunt to the End of the World (1983) Armstrong took on one of the leading roles alongside Tom Selleck , for which she was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1984 . She also played a leading role alongside Dennis Quaid in the 1983 horror film Jaws 3-D . In the comedy Nothing in Common (1986) by Garry Marshall , she appeared alongside Tom Hanks . In 1994 a larger role followed at the side of James Spader and girl Amick in the thriller Nightmare Lover . In the same year, the television series Welcome to Life , in which Armstrong starred alongside Claire Danes until 1995 , started. In the comedy This Darn Cat (1997) she played the mother of Patti Randall ( Christina Ricci ).
Armstrong was married to assistant director and film producer Chris Carreras from 1983 to 1984. In 1985 she married producer John Fiedler. She has three children with him.
