Beth Herr (born May 28, 1964 in the United States ) is a former American tennis player .

Career

At the age of 16, Beth Herr led the tennis world rankings for juniors. In 1982 she won the singles final of the US Open and the doubles competitions of the French Open , the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open in this age group . She also triumphed in 1983 at the age of 19 in the NCAA singles competition for the University of Southern California . She defeated Gigi Fernández , who later won 17 Grand Slam doubles competitions, in an exciting match 3: 6, 6: 2, 7: 6.

After dropping out of her studies, Mr. played on the WTA Tour for eleven years , on which she won a total of six titles, five of them in doubles. She also reached nine other finals (6 in doubles). In Grand Slam tournaments , she never got beyond the third round in singles; in doubles she was once in the quarterfinals and in mixed even in a semi-finals. She achieved her best placements in the WTA world rankings with positions 31 in singles and 26 in doubles.

After her career, she graduated and studied law . Beth Herr is married to Tennis Channel founder Steve Bellamy and has four children.
