Bilbo Calvez
Bilbo Calvez (* 1963 [?] In Paris as Mylène Calvez ) is a French film editor , director , screenwriter , actress , translator , photographer , peace activist and media and action artist who has lived in Germany , especially in Berlin , since 1987 .
Life
Calvez grew up in the Parisian banlieue , where she completed the Baccalauréat C in 1980 in the municipality of Créteil . She broke off her training at the veterinary school due to differences in how the animals were treated there and fell into depression . From 1982 to 1985 she studied film and genetics at the Université Paris VII , and in 1983 and 1984 additionally at the Université Paris XI biology , where she obtained the title Magister in Genetics ( Maitrise de Biologie des Organismes et des Populations ) in 1985 .
During her studies, she worked for a radio station . After completing her studies, she moved to Berlin in 1987, where she still lives today. Her short film project Rhythm Control (1997) won second prize in the German competition at the 1997 Oberhausen International Short Film Festival and was at the 7th Semaine Internationale de Vidéo Saint-Gervais / Genève in 1997 and at the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival, and in 1998 at the 11th transmediale - Videofest in Berlin and in 2001 at the Prix Ars Electronica and at the Festival Internacional de Linguagem Eletronica in the Paço das Artes of the Cidade Universitária Armando de Salles Oliveira of the Universidade de São Paulo .
From 2004 to 2012 she was a lecturer in film at the Bundeswehr Academy for Information and Communication in Strausberg .
In 2013 she carried out the photo project “Public-Private”, in which she photographed different people and then analyzed the different halves of the face independently and tried to work out the peculiarities of the individual halves. In their opinion, the respective halves of the face thus show the private and the public side of the people being photographed.
For personal reasons, Calvez then focused on other projects. In 2014 she appeared as a time-traveling teacher in Berlin on Pariser Platz and told of a peaceful future and a sustainable world. Following this speech, in 2015 she started the project “The Bear Soup”. The project deals with the vision of a moneyless society. As part of this project, she criticized the consumer society and the cheap mania; She also drew attention to alternative solutions. An exhibition first took place in Berlin in autumn 2016 in the Lite-Haus gallery and a tour through Germany and Austria followed in summer 2017.
