The Diocese of Huaraz ( lat. : Dioecesis Huarazensis ) is in the north of Peru located Roman Catholic diocese based in Huaraz .
The Diocese of Huaraz was established on May 15, 1899 from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Lima . On May 15, 1958, the diocese gave up parts of its territory to establish the Huari prelature . Since then, the Diocese of Huaraz has comprised eight provinces : Aija, Bolognesi, Carhuaz, Huaraz, Huaylas, Ocros, Recuay and Yungay.
The Diocese of Huaraz is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Trujillo as a suffragan .
