The Roman Catholic Diocese of Itanagar ( Latin Dioecesis Itanagarensis , English Diocese of Itanagar ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Itanagar .

history

The diocese of Itanagar was on December 7, 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI. Erected with the Apostolic Constitution Cum nuper from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Tezpur and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Guwahati as a suffragan . The first bishop was John Thomas Kattrukudiyil .

The diocese of Itanagar includes the districts of East Kameng , East Siang , Kurung Kumey , Lower Subansiri , Papum Pare , Tawang , Upper Siang , Upper Subansiri , West Kameng and West Siang in the west of the state of Arunachal Pradesh .
