Blaž Gregorc (born January 18, 1990 in Jesenice , SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Sparta Prague in the Czech extra league since 2018 .

Career

Blaž Gregorc began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of HK MK Bled , where he was active until 2007. The defender then moved to the junior division of Södertälje SK from Sweden. For the professional team of Södertälje SK he made his debut in the Elitserien , the highest Swedish league, in the 2009/10 season . In his rookie year , he prepared three goals in 30 games in the main round. With his team he only reached relegation in the Kvalserien . As a loan player, he also played seven games for Nyköpings HK from Division 1 , the third Swedish division. In the 2010/11 season the Slovenian had to take part again with Södertälje in the Kvalserien, but this time he rose with his team in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . In this he played in 16 games as a loan player for Växjö Lakers Hockey in the 2010/11 season . Following the 2011/12 season , in which he played for Södertälje SK in HockeyAllsvenskan, he moved to the Odense Bulldogs in the Danish Metal Ligaen . After only a year he turned his back on the Danes and signed on to the Czech extra league club HC Pardubice , for which he was on the ice for three years. From 2016 to 2018 he played for the league competitor Mountfield HK from Hradec Králové . Then he joined the HC Sparta Prague .

International

For Slovenia, Gregorc took part in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2006 , 2007 , when he was named the best defender of the tournament, and in 2008, as well as in the U20 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2008 , 2009 and 2010 . In 2009 and 2010 he was voted the best player on his team.

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2011 , 2013 , 2015 and 2017 World Championships and the Division I tournaments in 2012 , 2014 , 2016 and 2018 . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualifications for the 2014 and 2018 Winter Games and at the Games in Sochi , where the Slovenes took a surprising seventh place, and in Pyeongchang , where he and his team finished ninth himself.
