Tucher blues and jazz festival
The Tucher Blues and Jazz Festival is a music festival in Bamberg .
The festival has been held annually in Bamberg in the first half of August since 2007. It was initiated by Stadtmarketing Bamberg eV In 2016 it took place for the tenth time. In 2019 over 70 bands took part in around 80 concerts. In recent years the festival has developed into the largest free open-air blues and jazz festival in Europe. In 2019 over 150,000 people attended the festival.
The main venues of the multi-day festival are the Böhmerwiese in the Bamberg gardening town, two stages in the center of Bamberg. One is on Maxplatz, the other at Gabelmann . Further additional concerts will also take place in churches, companies, associations and restaurants as well as in numerous communities in the Bamberg district.
All visitors have the opportunity to get to know the diversity and breadth of blues & jazz music live, regardless of their financial circumstances.
The Bamberg Blues & Jazz Festival has supported the children's cancer project "Magic Harp" in Wernsdorf Castle in the Bamberg district for several years. In the past few years, more than 20,000 euros have been collected for the project from the proceeds of the festival badges and additional donations.
It took place for the tenth time in 2016 and exceeded the 125,000 visitors for the first time that year. In 2019 over 70 bands took part in around 80 concerts, which attracted 175,000 listeners.
