Bombs of Hades is a Swedish death metal and crustcore band from Västerås .

history

The band was formed in 2002 after bassist Anders Ekman and guitarist and singer Jonas Stålhammar decided to cover songs from their influence bands together while drinking alcohol. A short time later, the drummer Magnus Forsberg and the guitarist PO Söderback joined the cast. In 2008 the band recorded the EP Carnivores and released it through Blood Harvest Records . In 2009 the group could be heard along with other Swedish death metal bands on the sampler Resurrected in Festering Slime . This was followed by appearances with Crucifyre , Tormented , Tortyr, Sinate, Usurpress , Tragedy , Entrench and Dead Awaken. At the end of 2010, the debut album Chambers of Abominations was released again via Blood Harvest Records . In 2011 the split release Into the Eternal Pit of Fire followed together with Tormented, as well as another together with Usurpress. 2012 started with another split release along with Mordbrand. In the summer the second album The Serpent's Redemption was released . Another album was released in 2014 with Atomic Temples .

style

According to the band biography on Facebook , the group has been influenced by bands like Discharge , Anti Cimex , Dissober , Autopsy , Nihilist , Entombed , Carnage and Slayer . According to Sebastian Schilling from Rock Hard , the band plays "crusty colored Death Metal". The group started as a crust band and developed more and more towards Death Metal. In an interview with Schilling, Jonas Stålhammar stated that Atomic Temples is the band's first concept album. The story takes place a few hundred years in the future after a nuclear war in which the population consists of humans and mutants. The mutants are looking for a virgin who will give birth to Tyrant and who will wipe out the human race. For the album, first the concept, then the music, and finally the lyrics were developed. Stålhammar said he was a fan of analog synthesizers and organs, as well as film music, progressive rock and ambient artists such as Brian Eno , Cluster , Harmonia , Tangerine Dream and Goblin . Among the band's influences he counts groups like Slayer, Celtic Frost , Nihilist, Entombed, Death , Paradise Lost , Deathstrike , Repulsion , Discharge, Anti Cimex, No Security , Wolfbrigade , Tragedy, Disfear , Goblin, Univers Zéro , King Crimson , Magma , Anecdotes and Van der Graaf generator . Janne Stark also wrote in his book The Heaviest Encyclopedia of Swedish Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Ever! that the band initially played crustcore and then moved closer to death metal. It's faster, wilder and punky Death Metal, almost as if Motörhead was playing Death Metal. Thomas Sonder from Metal Hammer described the music on The Serpent's Redemption as a mixture of Thrash and Death Metal with a slight punk influence. The title song shows slight influences from Doom Metal .
