Bozkurt is a town and capital of the district of the same name in the province of Kastamonu in the north of northern Anatolia . The city is located about 2.5 km from the Black Sea coast. It is about 65 km to the provincial capital. Bozkurt is located in the valley of the Abana Deresi river , which flows into the sea at Abana . Bozkurt was raised to Belediye (municipality) in 1952 .

The district was formed in 1968 and extends from the coast to deep into the mountains of the Küre Dağları . In addition to the district town (2018: 56.5% of the district population), the district consisted of 32 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 135 residents at the end of 2018 . The spectrum of the population ranges from 412 ( İlişi ) to 26 ( Güngören ). The population density is higher than the provincial average (29 inhabitants per km²).
