Brigitte Hahn (born March 4, 1964 in Duisburg ) is a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

She completed her studies in Düsseldorf and Dortmund . While still a student, she sang in a choir at the Wuppertaler Bühnen before making her operatic debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in 1990 as Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos .

From 1991 to 1994 she was engaged at the Landestheater Coburg , where she sang the Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro , the title role in Madama Butterfly , Adina in L'elisir d'amore , Tatjana in Eugen Onegin , Marie in The Bartered Bride , Alice Ford in Falstaff and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus .

From 1994 to 1997 she was engaged at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . There she celebrated successes in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor , as Violetta in La traviata , Leonora in Il trovatore , Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte and as Mimì in La Bohème . During this time she has made guest appearances at the Stuttgart State Opera , Semperoper Dresden, Theater Basel and the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz a . a. as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail , Donna Anna in Don Giovanni , Countess Madeleine in Capriccio and as Suor Angelica .

In 1996 she made her US debut at the Washington National Opera as Sina in The Engagement in a Dream by Hans Krása . From 1997 to 2001 she had a residency contract at the Hamburg State Opera . There she sang among others Rosalinde, Donna Anna, Contessa, Fiordiligi, Lìu, Mimì and Lucia. Guest performances in 1997 took her to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Leonora in Il trovatore . She also sang the Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro at the Opéra National de Paris . In 2004 she made her role debut as Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes at the Opéra National de Paris with great success . She played this role shortly afterwards in Amsterdam.

The first Wagner role followed in 2005: Elsa in Lohengrin at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste and Helena in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona . She also sang Armgard in Die Rheinnixen by Jacques Offenbach in Lyon under the direction of Marc Minkowski for the first time . In the same year the title role in Fidelio followed in Hanover . In 2010 she made her role debut in Hanover as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth and sang the title role in Fidelio at the Semperoper Dresden. This was followed by her role debut in Hanover as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre in a new production by Barrie Kosky . In the continuation of the Ring cycle, she made her debut in 2011 as Brünnhilde in Siegfried and Götterdämmerung .
