Brink (family name)
Brink is a German and a Dutch family name. He also came to the USA through emigrants, where he has been one of the 50,000 most common names since at least 1850, to South Africa and other countries.
The name arose from the settlement name Brink .
In a figurative sense, Brink means "hill with green grass". From which one can conclude that the ancestors were free ranchers. As the family names became established, on the other hand, compositions such as “Brinkmeier” were also transferred to unfree members of different origins, who were named after their place of residence on or on a Brink (as any hill) in the case of identical names for better differentiation.
