Bruce Glen Eakin (born September 28, 1962 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was active during his career in the German Ice Hockey League and played for the Düsseldorfer EG and the Kassel Huskies .
Career
Eakin began his playing career in 1980 with the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL , one of the three Canadian junior leagues. He was selected in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft in the tenth round in 204th position by the Calgary Flames and therefore also played for the Oklahoma City Stars and the Colorado Flames , the Calgary farm team . He made his NHL debut on February 27, 1982 in Calgary against the Philadelphia Flyers . It was not until October 1983 that it was used for the second time. Thanks to two goals, he was used in six games in a row before he had to return to the farm team. For the 1984/85 season he moved to the Detroit Red Wings and was therefore active in sports for their farm teams.
After Europe he then moved to KalPa Kuopio in the Finnish SM-liiga in 1987 , until after one year he moved to Germany to Neusser SC in the 2nd Bundesliga after a year in the 1988/89 season. He then managed his best season in the second division in the next two years at EHC Essen-West , for which he scored 189 points in 64 games . After another year in the second division for the EHC 80 Nürnberg , he moved to the 1992/93 season for Krefeld EV in the hockey Bundesliga .
To found the German Ice Hockey League in the 1994/95 season , he then moved to Düsseldorfer EG , for which he only played 39 games (including play-off) in the league in two years. There he met Pierre Rioux , with whom he had played on many previous stations. In the 1995/96 season he finally switched to the Kassel Huskies , with whom he won the German runner-up title in 1997 . He was the team captain of the Huskies and had the greatest success so far for himself and the club.
He ended his career with the final 1998/99 season in the British Ice Hockey Superleague for the London Knights .
