Bruce Harwood

Bruce Harwood (born April 29, 1963 in North Vancouver , British Columbia , Canada ) is a Canadian actor in film and television. He has starred in several movies, including The X-Files , Guilty, A Murderous Mission, and Mimzy, My Future Girlfriend . However, he was best known in the 1990s and 2000s for his role as John Fitzgerald Byers in the popular American television series The X Files - The FBI's Scary Cases and the spin-off The Lone Shooters .

life and career

Bruce Harwood was born in North Vancouver in 1963. The family then moved to Vernon, British Columbia in the Okanagan Valley, where he attended the University of British Columbia and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts there in 1986 . In order to finance his desire to become an actor, Harwood worked for several years in a library in Vancouver.

Harwood got his first small television engagement in 1987 in the series MacGyver . This was followed by various extras roles and smaller appearances in television miniseries and television series such as The Galaxy of Outlaws , 21 Jump Street - crime scene classroom , beach pirates and the fight against the mafia . In 1994 he got X-Files-inventor Chris Carter the role of John Fitzgerald Byers, within the series The X-Files - The X Files won ever more important and in addition to fellow actor Tom Braidwood and Dean Haglund due to the high popularity of the three characters Byers, Frohike and Langly, The Lone Gunmen , got their own spin-off from Chris Carter in 2001 with the series The Lonely Shooters . Harwood played the role of Byers in 13 episodes. After the X-Files series ended in 2002, Harwood was seen in various television films and guest roles on popular television series such as: The L Word , Smallville , Kingdom Hospital , Dead Zone , The Secrets of Whistler , Supernatural , Emily Owens , Psych , Janette Oke: The Coal Valley Saga , Motive , The Flash or iZombie .

In the movie , Bruce Harwood occurred only in a few films as an actor in appearance. He played in Die Fliege 2 , Bingo - look who's barking! or his star role as John Fitzgerald Byers in The X-Files, directed by Rob Bowman . He also had appearances in the cinema productions The Guilty , Mimzy - My girlfriend from the future or Daydream Nation - Three is one too many .

His wife already met Bruce Harwood in junior high school, and they married in 1987. The couple have lived in Vancouver since then .

Harwood was a founding member of the Vancouver Summer Shakespeare Festival, Bard on the Beach .
