Bucak is a district and a county seat in the east of the Turkish province of Burdur . The previous name of Bucak is Bavlu. The district town is on the D-650 highway from Burdur to Antalya .

The county

The second largest district in the province has existed since 1926 and is located in the southeast of the province. The district borders in the south on the province of Antalya , in the east on the province Isparta , in the north on the districts Ağlasun and Çeltikçi and in the northwest on the central district Burdur.

Bucak has the second highest population of all counties in Burdur Province. The total of 64,943 inhabitants (end of 2018) is divided between the district town (44,521), two further Belediye (municipalities): Kızılkaya (2,053) and Kocaaliler (1,981) and 35 villages (with a total of 16,388 inhabitants). Each of the villages ( Köy , plural: Köyler ) is inhabited by an average of 468 people, Çamlık (1,368) and Gündoğdu (1,074) are the largest villages. The population density is above the provincial average.

Worth seeing

About ten kilometers northeast of the district town are the ruins of the ancient Pisidic city ​​of Kremna near Çamlık . In the southeast of the district, the Aksu Çayı , which flows into the Mediterranean near Antalya, is dammed up to form the Karacaören Barajı reservoir. To the west of the district are the Seljuk caravanserais Susuz Han and İncir Han .
