Buch is a hamlet in the municipality of Munderfing in Upper Austria ( Braunau am Inn district ). The village has 4 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

Buch is located in the southwest of the municipality of Munderfing and in the southwest of the cadastral municipality of the same name. The village can be reached from the center of the municipality via the Lochener district road leading to the southwest and the village of Hirschlag or Stocker . The village consists of two farms with four buildings. Neighboring villages are Hirschlag in the north, Jeging in the west, Stocker in the south and Rödt in the northeast. An extensive forest area extends east of Buch.

In 2001, a total of four buildings were counted for Buch, two buildings having a main residence and three apartments or two households. There were also two agricultural and forestry operations.

History and population

The place name Buch, formerly also Puch, is derived from the beech forest. As early as the 18th century, the hamlet consisted of the Hiasl farms (books 1 and 4) that still exist today, previously also Hiesengut, Heißengut or Pernroitergut, and the Hansengut (books 2 and 3), earlier also Hanßengut, Puchergut or Puechnergut. In 1869, 30 people lived in seven houses in Buch. By 1910 the population decreased, with 11 inhabitants in four houses that year. All residents of the village were of the Catholic faith.
