Katztal is a group in the municipality of Munderfing in Upper Austria ( Braunau am Inn district ). The village has 51 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

Katztal is located in the center of the municipality of Munderfing or in the north of the cadastral municipality of Achenlohe. Katztal is located around 1.1 kilometers southeast of the center of the community and can be reached via the main road and Braunauer Straße . Neighboring villages are Munderfing in the northwest, Bradirn in the north, Achtal in the southeast, Ach in the south, Rödt in the southwest and Hirschlag in the west. The Katztal extends to the east with extensive forest areas.

In 2001, 35 buildings were counted for Katztal, with 29 buildings having a main residence and 39 apartments or 36 households. In addition, there were three agricultural and forestry operations and three other workplaces in Katztal.

History and population

The village of Katztal was first mentioned in a document in 1363 as Käcztall . The place name is derived from a heretic settlement of the Waldensians . In the 18th century the place consisted of only five buildings. These were the Bernhard-Gut, formerly also Veitwebergütl (Katztal 1), the Försterhaus Katztal, formerly also Eglpointsölden or Göpplpoint Katztal 2), the Stübler-Gut, formerly Stüblerpoint (Katztal 4) and the Wallnerbauer, formerly also Walnerpointsölden (Katztal 5) . In addition, there was a farm called Thallitterpoint, Salliterpoint or Pradtiernpoint to the west of the Stübler-Gut.

In 1869, 43 people lived in nine houses in Katztal. In 1910 there were 60 inhabitants in 11 houses. All residents of the village were of the Catholic faith.
