History and population

After the Second World War, around 500 refugee ethnic Germans settled in the community of Munderfing. Around 95 percent of them came from Transylvania, in particular from Mettersdorf and the villages of Felldorf , Senndorf and Deutsch-Zeppling . There were also some Banat Swabians and Yugoslav Germans. They initially lived in emergency shelters and barracks and subsequently created the Haidberg and Hölling settlements. In the course of the naturalization ceremony on September 27, 1959, the settlement on Haidberg was named Siebenbürger Siedlung , but the addresses were still Munderfing. It was not until February 27, 1989 that the settlement was renamed Haidberg.
