Book on the Rannenberg

Buch am Rannenberg (official spelling Buch a. Rannenberg ) is a hamlet in the market Bissingen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . It is located one kilometer south-east of Unterbissingen on the Jura height.

history

Around 1150, Buch is called “Buoch”. The name means "settlement in a beech forest", to distinguish between places with the same name, the name of the mountain on which the place is located was added. From 1150 to 1540 the monastery of Sankt Ulrich and Afra in Augsburg owned goods in the village. These were sold to the Counts of Oettingen .

Religions

Buch became Evangelical Lutheran during the Reformation and has remained so to this day, as the Counter-Reformation could not prevail. The residents belong to the Protestant parish of Oppertshofen .
