Oberliezheim

Oberliezheim is a district of the market Bissingen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . The place was incorporated into the market Bissingen on May 1, 1978. It is located four kilometers southwest of Bissingen on the Jura plateau between the Kessel and Danube valley . The highest altitude is 530 m.

Surname

Oberliezheim is surrounded by four forests and is a recent clearing settlement . In 1269 Oberliezheim was first handed down as the "Ödenliedeshain". Ödenliezheim is the name of the settlement until the middle of the 15th century, after which the place Oberliezheim and, more rarely, Hinterliezheim was named to distinguish it from Unterliezheim .

history

Finds prove the settlement already in the Hallstatt period and during the Roman rule . The place was first mentioned in a document on April 17, 1269, when Wernher von Höchstädt gave all his goods to the Kaisheim monastery in order to pay off his debts. Around the middle of the 13th century, Oberliezheim belonged to the County of Oettingen and in 1268 came to the Duchy of Bavaria through the Conradin inheritance . It was administered by the Vogtei Höchstädt and the later district court Höchstädt . In addition to Bavaria, the Kaisheim monastery and the lordships of Diemantstein and Hohenburg-Bissingen owned the town.

Religions

Oberliezheim is the seat of an old parish , the patronage right of the Hohenburg-Bissingen rule is first attested in 1270. Today's Catholic parish church St. Leonhard was built in 1779/80 according to plans by Johann Georg Hitzelberger .
