Gaishardt (Bissingen)

Gaishardt is a district of the market Bissingen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . The parish village was incorporated into the market of Bissingen on July 1, 1971. It is located two kilometers southwest of Bissingen on the slope of the Sinnenbach, a tributary of the Kessel . The highest altitude is 495 m.

Gaishardt consists of two hamlets , which have been called Obergaishardt (with the church) and Untergaishardt since the 16th century.

history

The place is probably a cleared settlement , it was first mentioned in 1234. A lower noble family with "Heinricus de Gaishardt" is attested from this time. The Holy Cross Monastery in Donauwörth owned two farms in the village around 1250. Since the late Middle Ages the place belonged to the Hohenburg-Bissingen rule .

Religions

Up until 1455, Gaishardt was the seat of a parish , whose founding time cannot be proven. After 1455 the place belonged to the parish of Bissingen, to which it still belongs today. In Obergaishardt there is a branch church of St. Vitus and St. Rochus, the nave of which probably dates from the 13th century. The tower and choir were built around 1450.
