Diemantstein is part of the Bissingen market in the district of Dillingen on the Danube . The village is located about five kilometers west of Bissingen in the Kesseltal and was incorporated into the market on July 1, 1972 .
history
The establishment of the place goes back to the Lords of the Stain or of the Stain (= castle ) (see Herrschaft Diemantstein ). These are the first time with "Timo de Lapide" 1236 documentary mentioned. The place name Diemantstein first appeared in 1362. The family castle of the same name is centrally located in the village, but little of this castle has survived. The Catholic parish church of Sankt Ottilia and its outbuildings take the place of the former hilltop castle .
