Buggenhofen is a district of the Bissingen market in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . The church village Buggenhofen was incorporated into Bissingen on July 1, 1971. It is located two kilometers northeast of Bissingen in the valley of the Rohrbach, a right-hand tributary of the boiler .

history

Buggenhofen was first called "Puggenhoven" around 1150 and was probably created by Bissingen as an extension. In the 14th century a local noble family, the lords of Buggenhofen, was named. From the 16th century the place belonged to the Hohenburg-Bissingen rule of the Counts of Oettingen .

The place belongs to the original parish of the middle Kesseltal. The Catholic branch and pilgrimage church of the Assumption of Mary was built between 1471 and 1487 and rebuilt by Georg Danner in 1678/1680 . In the years 1768 to 1770 the frescoes were executed on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the pilgrimage.
