history

Oberringingen was first handed down in 1262 as the "superior villa Ringingen". The place was probably created as an extension of Unterringingen and got its place name from it. The high-rise rulers were wealthy in the village. In 1262 the Counts of Oettingen acquired properties in Oberringingen from the Ellwangen Monastery , which were probably sold to the Diemantstein Lordship in 1445 . The counts still had property in the place, which went as a fief to the Lords of Hohenreichen zu Bissingen (around 1313), then to the Lords of Weiler (before 1450 to 1482) and from 1534 to the Lords of Winterstetten. From 1556 to 1568 the Schertlin von Burtenbach , then the Lords von Bemmelberg were enfeoffed. In the following period the place belonged to the Hohenburg-Bissingen rule . Only a few remains of the wall and the field name "Am Schlossgarten" are evidence of a castle built in the 16th century, which was demolished around 1700. In the meantime, the rule of high-rise, the rule of Hohenburg and the Johanniterkommende Kleinerdlingen had property in Oberringingen.

Until the loss of independence, the hamlet of Hochdorf and the Maushof belonged to Oberringingen .

religion

The place originally belonged to the parish Unterringingen. The introduction of the Reformation in Unterringingen in 1556 meant that the Catholics in Oberringingen were parish in different parishes depending on the rule.
