The district of Víctor Larco Herrera is one of 11 districts of the Trujillo Province in the La Libertad region in western Peru . The District Víctor Larco Herrera was founded on February 22, 1943 as the District of Buenos Aires . On March 16, 1945, the district was renamed in memory of the Peruvian politician and philanthropist Víctor Larco Herrera (1870-1939). The 18.02 km² district is congruent with the city of Buenos Aires. The district had 68,506 inhabitants at the 2017 census. In 1993 the population was 42,169, in 2007 it was 55,781.
The district of Víctor Larco Herrera is located between the city of Trujillo and the Pacific coast . It is part of the Trujillo metropolitan area. The district has an almost 4.5 km long stretch of coast. The river Río Moche flows into the sea on the southeastern border of the district. The district extends up to 3.3 km inland. In the northwest, the district borders on the Huanchaco district , in the northeast on the Trujillo district with the city of the same name and in the southeast on the Moche district .
