The bugatti Holding Brinkmann GmbH & Co. KG is a 1947 as FW Brinkmann GmbH & Co. KG was established in Herrenbe clothing manufacturer based in East Westphalia Herford .

Several manufacturers of branded textile goods are united in the holding , for which licenses are in part granted to other manufacturers. The group is also a licensee and produces for other companies. The company's best-known and best -selling brand is bugatti , which belongs to bugatti GmbH (until 2010: F. W. Brinkmann GmbH ) within the Brinkmann Holding. Men's coats have been manufactured under this brand name since 1978 . In the course of time, other articles of outer clothing, shoes and accessories for men were added. From the end of 2010, the bugatti portfolio was expanded to include women’s shoes and handbags under license, and from 2011 to include women’s jackets and coats made in- house. The German company has nothing to do with the automobile manufacturer of the same name .

Various companies have belonged to the Brinkmann Group over the years:

  • bugatti GmbH (founded in 1978) with the bugatti brand and the licensed brand (Doris) Hartwich (until 2012)
  • Roland Kleid GmbH (acquired in 1956), retail store for women’s and men’s fashion in Bremen
  • Pikeur riding fashion in Werther (acquired in 1990) with the brands Pikeur and Eskadron (riding equipment)
  • WILVORST Herrenmoden in Northeim (majority stake since 1993) with the brands Wilvorst , atelier torino (acquired in 2002), Tziacco and Corpus Line by Odermark . The Odermark clothing works in Goslar (acquired in 1980), market leader for bespoke clothing, were integrated into Wilvorst Herrenmoden GmbH in 2010.
  • Dressler clothing works in Großostheim (acquired in 2003) with the brands Eduard Dressler and Kaiser Design (until 2013) as well as the licensed brands Daks (until 2017) and Etienne Aigner (Etienne Aigner until 2013).
  • Wilhelm Blicker GmbH & Co KG in Karlsruhe (acquired in 1975, liquidated in 2009) with the own brand Eres (continued by Dressler until 2011) and the licensed brand Burberry (until 2009)
  • Pefri (Petrykowski & Fritz) men's coat factory (leather clothing) in Rödermark (since 1967; liquidated in 2000)

At the end of March 2010, bespoke clothing moved from Goslar to Northeim, and the main factory in Goslar was closed in 2010. The men's trousers manufacturer Statz ( Erkelenz - Borschemich ) founded in 1937 was taken over in 2001. However, since the company did not come out of the red, it was closed in 2007. The Wilhelm Blicker men's coat factory in Karlsruhe, which was taken over in 1975, was closed in March 2009.

history

The company was founded in 1947 by Friedrich Wilhelm Brinkmann (1920-1994) as a reward clothing for ladies' and men's clothing in wages established (Westphalia). Initially, the company manufactured men's coats and trousers . Via Bad Oeynhausen (1950), the steadily growing company came to its current location in Herford in 1953, where 260 people were employed at that time. In 1961, a production company and a sales company ( Brinkmann Lord Italia SRL ) were founded in Italy for export reasons . A fashion collection for men was established under the name Lord International . Over the years, other German textile manufacturers were acquired and integrated (Blicker, Odermark, Pikeur, Wilvorst, Dressler), see section "Brinkmann Group" above.

1978 in Herford, the brand Bugatti , first as a jacket brand for men launched and the brand name the German Patent Office (now the German Patent and Trademark Office) entered. According to the company, the brand name is Bugatti due to the fact that the then marketing boss Brinkmann was looking for a melodious Italian names and phone book by Milan found it. In the 1980s, the bugatti portfolio was expanded into a complete outfit in the sportswear sector for men; licenses were granted to other manufacturers from the 1990s. Jackets and shoes for women have been available since 2011, initially only in Italy , then also in Austria and Russia , and finally, from 2012, also in Germany. In China , bugatti boutiques for accessories have been opened by the licensee for leather goods. Bugatti also has shops-in-shops in larger clothing stores and department stores around the world. At the beginning of 2018 bugatti had an international presence with 530 spaces. 14 license partners use the bugatti brand for headgear , leather jackets , ties , belts , socks , shoes, bathrobes , underwear , purses , (cell phone) bags, bed linen and kitchen textiles. Factory outlets ( factory outlets ) are available in Herford, Ochtrup and Wolfsburg .

The managing partners of bugatti Holding Brinkmann have been Wolfgang Brinkmann and Klaus Brinkmann, the sons of the company founder, since 1986 (together with father Friedrich Wilhelm Brinkmann until 1994). Since 2016, Markus Brinkmann (son of Wolfgang Brinkmann) and Julius Brinkmann (son of Klaus Brinkmann) have been at the top of the company. Wolfgang Brinkmann is also Vice President of the Association of the Northwest German Textile and Clothing Industry. Klaus Brinkmann was President of the German fashion association GermanFashion from 2003 to 2011. The two brothers are hobby show jumpers. Wolfgang Brinkmann , who also owns a riding stable, became Olympic champion in team show jumping in Seoul in 1988 .
