history

The constituency was re-established after German reunification for the 1990 Bundestag election under the name Greifswald - Wolgast - Demmin and received constituency number 268.

The constituency originally consisted of the area of ​​the city of Greifswald and the area of ​​the then districts of Greifswald , Wolgast and Demmin. During the district reform in 1994, the district of Ostvorpommern was created from the districts of Greifswald, Wolgast and Anklam and the district of Demmin was enlarged to include the former districts of Altentreptow and Malchin . The area of ​​these former districts initially still belonged to the constituencies Neustrelitz - Strasburg - Pasewalk - Ueckermünde - Anklam , Neubrandenburg - Altentreptow - Waren - Röbel or Rostock-Land - Ribnitz-Damgarten - Teterow - Malchin and was only introduced in the course of the constituency reorganization the 2002 Bundestag election also included the constituency, which was then renamed Greifswald - Demmin - Ostvorpommern and given the new constituency number 16.
