Milseburg Castle

The castle Milseburg also Liedenküppel called, is an Outbound hilltop castle on a steep mountain at 613  m above sea level. NN , the "Liedenküppel" in the Kleinsassen district of the Hofbieber community in the Fulda district ( Hesse ). Milseburg Castle is not to be confused with the Celtic ring wall Milseburg on the mountain of the same name .

description

The castle was probably built in the 11th century and first mentioned in a document in 1119. It is unclear whether the castle was conquered and renewed between 1114 and 1122 by the Fulda abbot Erlolf von Bergholz or whether it was only built or renewed under the Abbot Markward with the castles Bieberstein and Haselstein from 1150 to 1165 . It was abandoned in the 13th century and was in ruins by 1450 .

In the floor plan at Knappe, a complete circular wall and an only half-encompassing wall in front are recorded. The floor plan suggests that the castle was the only permanent house with a residential tower . The dimensions of the castle are small at around 21 × 24 m.

Today's castle stable of the former small, round, at its core, square tower castle shows only parts of the curtain wall and a deepening of the tower.
