Anberg Castle

The Anberg Castle , also called Castle "at Manberge", is one of two dialed medieval castles in Uttrichshausen , the oldest district of the municipality Kalbach in the district of Fulda in Hesse .

location

The castle complex was located about a hundred meters south-east of the older Uttrichshausen castle in the direction of Motten in what is now the Anberg settlement area .

history

The complex was probably built a little later like the moated castle and is referred to on maps, in field names and popularly as " castle ". The castle appears for the first time in a document comparing Fritz von Hutten with his mother Else von Schenkenwald, née von Haun, in 1392 as a fief of the Fulda monastery . The last noble tenant of the castle and its possessions was Johann Martin von Schleiffras , Princely Fuldischer Privy Councilor and Oberjägermeister and brother of the Fulda Prince Abbot Adalbert von Schleiffras , who had acquired it in 1712. In 1729, the Fulda abbot Adolf von Dalberg acquired the castle back from the Schleiffras heirs and appointed an administrator in the last property that remained in the Fulda bishopric . In 1811 the Catholics of Uttrichshausen were able to officially attend the service in the castle church for the first time . The remains of the castle with its church were demolished in 1953 and the old cellars were filled with the material. In its place today stands the new Catholic parish church of St. Boniface with the rectory. Apart from documentary evidence, only the filled castle cellars have survived from the former castle complex.

Individual evidence

  1. Name of an old knightly noble family (also called Haune , Hunahe , Hune , Hun , de Huna , Huen , Heune , Hawn ), first documented in the 13th century. The ancestral castle of the "Ritter von Haune" (the "Borghune") was located in today's municipality of Burghaun (formerly "Hune"), also in the Fulda district in East Hesse; they got their name from their castle.
