Burgambach , also known as Nieder- or Unterambach, is a district of the town of Scheinfeld in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Central Franconia .
location
The village lies in the open, about 2.7 km northwest of Scheinfeld. It is naturally located in the Steigerwald . The Schönbach coming from the west flows immediately south past the place and flows into the bank after 500 m . The state highway 2421 crosses Castle Ambach and connects it to Scheinfeld.
history
Burgambach was first mentioned in a document in 1258. At that time it was a fiefdom of the Castell counts . Until the 15th century they owned the small castle, which still exists today as a stately home. The Casteller Ministerials von Wiesenbronn also owned here. In 1659 a case of fornication was on record in the village.
In 1806 the area became part of Bavaria . The Bavarian original cadastre shows Burgambach in the 1810s as a clustered village with 26 hearths and a mill. In 1820 there were 35 stoves.
As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the previously independent municipality of Burgambach was incorporated into Scheinfeld on January 1, 1972.
