Burkhard Armin Pototzky (born December 15, 1957 in Neumünster ) is a German brigadier general and department head operations and head of the air force operations center in the air operations center in Kalkar .

Military career

Training and first uses

Burkhard Pototzky joined the Bundeswehr as an officer candidate on July 1, 1975 and completed his training as an officer at the Luftwaffe officers' school in Neubiberg by 1977 . This was followed by his basic aviation training at Sheppard Air Force Base (AFB) in Texas and then fighter pilot training at George AFB in California . In 1980 he was transferred as a pilot on an F-4F Phantom to Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen" in Wittmund . From 1989 to 1991 Pototzky was the squadron captain of the 2nd Fighter Bomber Squadron of Fighter Bomber Squadron 35 in the Hunsrück Air Base , after which he completed the 36th General Staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg .

Uses as a staff officer

Following the general staff training course, Pototzky was deployed as a task force officer for exercises and planning at the NATO headquarters Allied Joint Force Command in Brunssum in the Netherlands and from 1996 to 1998 as head of operations in the 2nd Air Force Division in Birkenfeld . From September to November 1998, Pototzky was in charge of the German air strikes against Serbia as commander of the German air force contingent SFOR in Vicenza .

This is followed using joined as a consultant for force planning and development of the Air Force in the Federal Ministry of Defense (MoD) in Bonn on and from 2001 to 2003 as Commodore of Fighter Wing 71, in addition from November 2002 to March 2003 as commander of Operational Wing 2 in Kabul as part the ISAF mission. In 2003 he became group leader in the air force command in Cologne-Wahn , in 2005 head of division in the air force command and in 2007 head of division in the armed forces command in Bonn. After that, he was head of the Balkan emergency team in the BMVg's operations team in Berlin for one year .

Uses as a general

In 2009 Pototzky took over as commander of the E-3A-AWACS association in Geilenkirchen , in 2012 he became the deputy commander and chief of staff of the Air Force Operations Command , the forerunner of the Air Operations Center and, in July 2013, Head of Operations there.
