population

In general, the inhabitants of the Gulf Coast, who have a darker skin color than the inhabitants of the highlands, are referred to as Bandari (Pers. Bandar : "harbor"). As in the province of Hormozgan , they are largely of Arab or Black African origin and belong to sedentary clans of various nomadic tribes . They have preserved many of their traditions to this day. They mostly speak Arabic and are predominantly of the Sunni faith - although they also cultivate the cult of tsar, which is well known in Egypt and Sudan .

The islanders in particular still dress traditionally. The men wear long cloaks and turban , the women wide trousers and colored robes; They also wear a colored face mask made of embroidered goatskin that only leaves their eyes and mouth exposed.
