The Bystra (also Klikawa ; German Schnelle ; Czech Bystrá , also Klikava , Střela , Šnela also Bystřina , Slaný Potok and Slánský Potok ) is a left tributary of the Metuje ( Mettau ). The area through which it flows belongs to the powiat Kłodzki in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.
description
Although its source belongs to the Glatzer Kessel , whose waters drain into the Oder and thus into the Baltic Sea, the Bystra flows into the Elbe , and thus the North Sea , as the watershed runs above the source .
The Bystra, which drains the Lewin Uplands ( Wzgórza Lewińskie ) and often overflows its banks when it rains, rises in the foothills of the Eagle Mountains east of Zimne Wody ( cold water ). Their area originally belonged to the Hummel rule , which belonged to the Bohemian rule Nachod until 1477 and was incorporated into the County of Glatz in the same year . Through the subsequent Germanization of the geographical names, Bystrá was translated into the synonymous fast . After the transition to Poland in 1945, the Polish spelling Bystra was used, later also Klikawa .
From the source the Bystra initially flows northwest through a less inhabited valley, in which it receives smaller tributaries, towards Lewin Kłodzki ( Lewin ). From there it runs along the European route 67 , which it leaves to Jeleniów ( Gellenau ) through a small north-west bend. The further course of the river is along the village streets of Zakrze ( Sackisch ) and Słone ( Schlaney / Schnellau ), both of which belong to Kudowa-Zdrój as districts . After the end of the village of Słone, it turns south-west and flows through a meadow area after almost a kilometer just before the border crossing Kudowa-Słone into the Czech Mettau, which forms the border river here. From its source to the mouth of the Mettau it forms the Schnelletal ( Dolina Bystrej ).
