The 1966 Cadre 71/2 World Championship was the 14th Cadre 71/2 World Championship. The tournament took place from March 10th to 13th, 1966 in Duisburg . It was the fourth Cadre 71/2 World Championship in Germany.
history
The 14th Cadre 71/2 World Championship ended with the victory of the amateurized Frenchman Jean Marty . After Carl Foerster (1930) and Walter Lütgehetmann (1959), Siegfried Spielmann was the third German to win a silver medal. The Austrian title holder from 1965 confirmed his quality in this discipline of carambol with third place. Before the start of the tournament, someone else was the top favorite. Raymond Ceulemans came as the reigning pentathlon world champion and had the best general average (GD) in the initial classification with 51.08. But in his first game against the Argentine Osvaldo Berardi there was a surprising 64-300 defeat in six shots. In rounds five and six, defeats against Scherz and Scholte followed. This cleared the way for Marty, whom Ceulemans was able to defeat in the last round with 300: 103 in six shots.
Tournament mode
A final round in the round robin system up to 300 points was played. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:
- MP = match points
- GD = general average
- HS = maximum series
